hi everyone,
I recently replaced my aging (non-thunderbolt) 27" cinema display with a Dell 34" curved monitor (U3415W). As expected the screen itself is miles above the Apple monitor (as it should be), but now I have a couple of things that are bothering me which i was wondering if someone could help me with:
1. For some reason, when connecting my (15" retina) Macbook pro to the monitor via Displayport 1.2, the monitor doesn't see the laptop unless the lid is open. Before i could use my Macbook with the lid closed and the monitor would still see it.
2. Audio: I am using a pair of Audioengine A2 speakers connected via USB to the monitor. The Macbook sees them as an option but when i select them the sound only comes out of the Dell monitor, nothing else.
3. Finally, I can't figure out if there is a way to keep my Iphone charging through the USB hub of the monitor when the computer is disconnected or at sleep. With the apple monitor, I could plug in my iphone to the USB hub of the monitor and it would charge, regardless of the presence of a computer.
If anyone has experience with this or other Dell monitors and could shed some light on these issues I would greatly appreciate.
Thanks!
