Everyone i know uses MSN and i've simply have gotten fed up with the Microsoft Client. I now use Adium X and if I need video i use aMSN or Mercury messenger. They support webcam, custom emoticons, personal messages, nudges and everything else that microsoft is too lazy to add to the official client. aMSN and Mercury messenger may not be as pretty as Adium, but they get the job done!
