Binge watching some series on Netflix (using my ATV4) within the last 2 weeks brings a very irritating feature..."Are you still watching" with either Continue or Exit as click options. WTF, yeah I'm watching or I would have quit by myself! The problem comes, using the ATV4, when I click Continue. The screen is frozen on the last showing scene and the audio continues on. I must exit all the way out of Netflix and return to load up whatever I was watching. If I am watching thru my Sony Bravia android Netflix App, all I have to click is Continue and my episode continues normally. The whole situation is ridiculous but doubly so using the ATV for Netflix now.
Are others experiencing this with Netflix/ATV? Ok, so binge watching is not healthy in the first place but
I'm retired, I can if I want to!

No not at all. I am watching Netflix on my ATV via ATV4 => Onkyo TX-NR676 => Philips TV.

Last time I saw the message was last week when I was watching Narcos, so must have been the latest Netflix app.

Maybe your TV looses the HDCP connection, which AFAIK is refreshed/resynced every so many seconds. So after you hit continue, and protected content is played again, things are not ok. Could be a Sony SW issue or something not 100% ok in the Netflix app.

My biggest annoyance with the latest version is the automatic playing of the trailers of series or movies, if present. They should make that optional. And... of course, I have still hope that one day they will return to the plain simple UI of the ATV3.

The are you still watching message has been around for many years and normally pops up after every third episode to make sure the viewer hasn't fallen asleep or anything like that. There's no way to disable it except maybe use your remote to pause after every second episode as it only pops up when it notices playback has been going on uninterrupted for a while.

As for it crashing, I'm assuming it might a fault with the device you are using to watch Netflix.

Thanks for the quick reply but this doesn't seem to be a Sony Tv issue but an ATV 4 issue. If I watch Netflix via the built in (Sony TV) Netflix App, Continue works normally.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have been binge watching for about 2 years now and never had Netflix showing that message before about 2 weeks ago but it's very possible I have never watched more than 2 episodes continuously. But Now I will use your suggestion of pausing after 2 episodes.

No issue here. I get the annoying message and tell it I'm still watching and it continues on my ATV.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a bug in the Netflix app. My setup has an Xbox One S connected to a Samsung TV (LED but non-smart) and I remember the "binge watch" mode where the app would just continue to the next episode when the current one ended. As far as I'm aware this feature stopped working for me a couple years ago. I have to tell it to play the next episode every time. But just the other day out of nowhere it came up again. I thought I'd let it happen since I didn't have anything else to do. But the app crashed and I had to reboot the Xbox. I don't see any way to change settings for the app so I can't explain why it doesn't happen all the time or why it did that day.

Yep it's annoying! I also get it when watching the Sling TV app.

I also agree with the poster above, the auto-play of trailers in Netflix is a PIA!
