I hope a developer reads and gets inspired by this (if they're not working on it already).
An app that lets you organize and view your 'Netflix Queue' more elegantly, organized and efficiently
This is what I'd like to see in a Mac Netflix app, which would take some of its cues from iTunes, TuneUp, Finder, Together, Ecoute, Plex (to name a few):
*Smart folders
*Folders
*Playlists
*Tags
*iTunes styled view options
*Stream via the app
*Trailers
*More movie info.... (more on this later)
*Quicklook
*Coverflow
If I hover over a film I should have the same film info as in Netflix. But if I click on the image, I should see a very similar detailed info as in the Netflix page, but with 'more' info. We should have the ability to view IMDB info, reviews from Rotten Tomatoes, MetaCritic or other reviews found online.
I usually go to Bloody Disgusting when it comes to 'horror' films, if the Netflix user reviews aren't enough.
Most films don't have trailers, and this'll be a much welcomed addition. Trailers from YouTube, DailyMotion, or other sources would really be helpful.
More detailed actor, director, writer info would be great as well.... such as images and bios along with what Netflix offers. All of this with the options to view what we want to view and how we want to view it.
And as I mentioned earlier, all of the transitions, look and feel should be Mac-esque quality wise. Core Animation transitions, Quicklook previews, Spotlight search, Coverflow view, etc.etc.
This app could be an open source community based app (donationware), which could support different plugins, or an independent based developer app ($25-$40)with the ability for others to contribute plugins, skins, etc.
I wish I was good at image editing so I could make a mockup, but the most I can do is 'crop'.
Thank you for your time.
