I see where some can certainly draw parallels design-wise. Definitely. If I wasn't so integrated into the iOS ecosystem I'd definitely give WP7 a try, and that Nokia looks to be the perfect choice. Beautiful design.

Question though: Do you know the dimensions of that particular device? Looks to be a 4" screen but I can't be sure since it's a scaled photo.

That's the nicest Nokia I think I have ever seen, but too much has been stolen from Apple's iPod Nano design-wise.

everything about this looks reall nice. bet the user experience is another story

It has nothing in common with iPod Nano except for color. There are no patents on that now?

To early to tell, but I think this might be the best looking phone I've ever seen.

Better materials used. Bigger screen and rounded edges. This phone might be one of the best designed phones ever made and DURABLE too. It might look like the iPod nano, but it harks back to even the iPod mini. Those were actually better built than the bigger iPods because of their anodized aluminum and more rugged backside! The N9 uses a unibody polycarbonate body with Gorilla glass on the front. No smudges of fingerprints on the back. No worry about shatter. No sharp edges on the corner. This N9 has one of the most IDEAL and PRACTICAL form factor.

So many rave reviews for the N9. Elop broke Nokia fans' heart. While HP killed off Palm and ditched hardware for webOS, Nokia aborted MeeGo when it was stillborn. Whatever Samsung does with MeeGo and reboot it to Tizen, remember this was originally Nokia and Intel's idea. There is ONLY ONE MeeGo phone made by Nokia. You can dual boot it and transfer it to another phone or whatever, but remember there is only one Nokia that was originally engineered towards it.

"The N9 is the ultimate culmination of Nokia's 140+ year history, starting with a pulp mill in Tampere, and ending with one of the most successful and most influential technology companies in the world. You think Android or iOS made an impact on this world? Don't make me laugh - those guys are barely fit to bring in Nokia's slippers in the morning. Nokia not only invented the mobile phone (together with Motorola), they pretty much invented the entire back-end which supports it to this very day. Nokia made the mobile phone available to everyone - not just rich kids in the west - and thereby changed the entire world for the better."

This is Nokia's real swan song before becoming just another Windows Phone OEM. The Nokia we know today will never be the same again after getting in bed with Microsoft. The greatest phone Nokia ever made with the best OS they ever made that they decided to abandon right away.

As GSMArena once titled in their review - ONCE IN A LIFETIME

What are your thoughts on the styling of the new Nokia phone?

Absolutely gorgeous! :)

Too bad its WinPho :(

They have almost everything you wan't in a smartphone OS besides the ability to use a bluetooth keyboard to type notes (which I need for college)...

Very nice design. That is the N9.. which looks very good and has got good reviews.

Shame Nokia doesn't care about Meego...

If Nokia released this phone 2 years ago it could have done very well.

Beautiful design. I hope Nokia makes WP exlusive phones to get more marketshare. Windows Phone has got to be the best looking OS for a phone ever. iOS is meh.

I can only echo your comments after looking around and seeing lots of photos of it. My iphone 4 is beautiful but this seems to have a far higher functionality to it. Whereas, clearly, the construction of the 4 is predominantly form over function (what else is new?) this would appear to be a fine marriage of the two.

I was holding out for the iphone 5, but with the improvements made with Mango, come the end of next year, I can see myself possibly purchasing a Nokia running something like Apollo.

If only I can get this phone cheap by next year, I would get it. Shame it will never arrive in the States. Nokia's high-end phones has usually been elusive for American carriers. You would usually get them unlocked. Nokia has surprisingly never been #1 in the U.S. when it comes to sales. But all over the world in regards to volume sales for all phones (non-smart or smart), it has been #1 since 1998. This year was a slow one for them since deciding to bank on Microsoft.

That Nokia N9 in cyan is starting to look really, really HOT to me.

Usually, I would go black and never come back. But lately, black has become way too redundant. I still prefer more contrast with black when looking at videos, but if I ever got the N9, I might pick the cyan. I could care less if people think it is "girly." The white iPhone 4S is becoming common too among guys and I like that some are going for a change in color schemes to change things up a bit. You have to give Nokia some credit for adding a little more color and more variety to their phones than others.

I really wished Nokia would release an orange Nokia N9. This was a color option for the N8. That 4th generation iPod nano looked really cool in that color. So whenever the N9 is next to my iPhone, I can always compare :apple: to oranges.

Have you read the reviews? It's actually a great OS just a bit laggy and lacks apps. The Nokia searay will be essentially the same hardware as the N9 but with WP7

Yeah, Meego is a great OS, I've known about it since it has been developing. Just wished it was WP.

No, this is Nokia's WP7 equivalent. Although I will agree the N9 is just a fantastic device(based off the review and images/videos I've seen)

Nokia N9 Design Story

You can almost tell that this Nokia N9 will become a "cult classic" among diehard Nokians just like the Nexus One to Google fans and even the next iPhone that is being regarded as SJ's final major project.

Nokia N9 - A culmination of 140+ years of their history. The crowning achievement of their N-Series phones.

Nokia is giving us unibody polycarbonate with a phone and OS that should have come out about three years ago. Motorola is giving us KEVLAR and splash resistance to resurrect their RAZR line.

A toast to Motorola and Nokia, the early pioneers of cell phone technology. The ones that came before Apple, Google, and Microsoft. The latter two practically has taken over each of them. Both had their time to shine before their twilight years.

Still got to respect the pioneers. Respect the classics.
