I now have the automatic download options under store in the settings menu, jsut for apps and books, but then there's a seperate slider titled "mobile". Anyone have an idea what that slider does? lol
 
I think itunes is just for those in the US. Here in Australia I just have apps & books as well.

It says underneath:

"When not connected to Wi-Fi, use mobile network to download purchases"

I set all of those to "on" (i believe it was music, apps, and books). I then went to iTunes and I have started downloading some of my purchased songs for free that I haven't synced yet :)
