New owner: Clunky noise when I load a disk in my MBP.. normal?

Hello, im a brand new owner of a Macbook Pro as of two days ago. enjoying it so far!

But ive noticed one thing, when i insert a disk into the Drive, as it sucks it in, it makes an offensive clunking noise.... is this normal?

It just seems a little out of place when everything else is working and designed to perfection.

it sounds like its breaking the CD!

but it still seems to work... so, is this normal? reassure me

Yes that is normal.

Yes, this is absolutely normal. It happens with slot-loading drives, as the drive has to get the disk in and orient it, so don't worry about it. Somewhere on Apple's site there's an article about this with some example noises, but I can't find it at the moment.
