Hey,

When i set up my new powerbook i made it so that it did not have a password. I was playing around with my PB today and I went to prefs>accounts and it says that I have a password on my computer, yet it never asks me for one and I never put one one. The password is 7 characters long. If I try to delete it, it says that with out a password anyone can get into my computer. I click ok and it tells me that my password is to short. Then it will let me close the prefs box, but when i reopen it, a password is back in the spot where you put it in

Whats going on here?

Some programs do this.

It requires a password in the coding, but allows you to not use one, so a random password is used.

On Windows 95, this was a problem because after you selected a password then deleted it, it made random passwords that you had to enter. That made my dad angry lol - he reinstalled '95.
