New phone - restore from backup, or set up as new?

Sorry, I know this is age-old question, but interested in current sense of things. This will be my first time switching to a new iPhone (5c to 6S+). Any performance reasons why it would be best to set up the new phone from scratch, rather than restore from the old phone's iCloud backup? Thanks.

if you don't want to keep your imessage, email settings, don't down apple watch, etc, you can go new.
i did restore from 6 plus to 6s, no performance issue.
