New Photos App Import Issue

Not sure where to post this or how to tell Apple etc... but I am dragging thousands of photos into Photos and there is no progress bar at all. The import is working fine and they are going into the app but there is nothing to tell me it is working or how far along it is. If I try to start another import it just says there is one in progress and it lets me know when it's done, but I had no idea it was even doing anything the first few times I dragged stuff in
