New POS Registers at work have fingerprint scanners to clock in and out and to use the register.

These registers are also connected to the internet and to a server.

Also these tills want to know when you first started work, what your position is, your name and your fingerprint.

So I question where are these fingerprints being stored, on the till, on the server, or somewhere else?

The tills in question are manufactured by Micros, so why do you think they would need your fingerprint your date of hire, and your full name?

Seems kinda odd to me.

Edit: The company says they need the fingerprints so they can track who is possibly making mistakes or stealing money. (But isn't that what security cameras are for?)

You're dealing with cash if a company can use methods to decrease the likelihood of theft, they will use it. Not all establishments have security cameras. Plus its also used to prevent theft, not just catch the criminal. Knowing that they have your fingerprints and knowing that they're tracking you, will dissuade most people from attempting to steal

Yeah. Tills, fingerprints and Waloshin.
