Hey all,
Just a quick question I hope someone can answer.
So I got this ridiculously fantastic computer monday. Now as some may remember, the earlier unibody 17 in models had gpu issues. I had heard about some people using CineBench to test for the issue, and I thought, what the heck, its been awhile, chances are its been fixed but might as well make sure.
So I run it, and during the test I notice that as the fans spin faster, at around 3000 rpm, theres a distinct whine that can be heard.
This is somewhat disconcerting, but I decided to chalk it up to a different fan being used.
However, something I also noticed was that the fans won't start to go faster until the CPU temp reaches around 95-97 degrees Celsius! Even then, the fans aren't spinning that fast, the fastest I've seen it hover is around 3000 rpm.
I can't remember my old Santa Rosa MBP sounding like that when the fans revved up so I thought I'd ask here and see if anyone's MBP is doing the same thing to see if its normal.
are the fan settings normal too? My old Santa Rosa would ramp up the fans at around the high 80s, low 90s.
some pictures are attached.
Also, just as a quick secondary question, has anyone had problems using Itunes with headphones? On occasion, after removing or inserting some Apple in ear headphones, the sound will just cut out completely. Pressing play will continue the track, but no sound comes out.
Oddly enough, other programs have no problem playing audio.
I suspect its software-related, but I was hoping someone more knowledgeable might know the answer.
Thanks!
