Sorry to ask soo many questions, just recently converted, so heh.

Anyhoo just got the new PB 12" with 4x superdrive and I had a question, this is the first slot load I've ever experienced and when I push the cd in half way, it grabs it, then i hear a loudish mechanical sound inside like a tray is moving up and down maybe, and then silence, drive works, but is that loud sound normal? I mean, its noticible.

Anyone else got the new PB have this too?

Mine does the same thing, and so does my friends' PB. It was a little alarming the first time I heard it, but seems to be normal.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who freaked the first time.

Hundreds of whrrrrbzzzznnnds later, 12"PB still running fine....

Have fun!

Oh thank god :D !!

Was so worried. Tomorrow, getting my iPod Mini, @wheee.

It makes 2 sets of the noise right? one sucking the disc in, then somethign else maybe tray grabbing it to spin up?

I refer to this as the "Lock and Load" Phenomenon. Yours and mine (and everyone else's) sound like your computer is really serious about loading that CD/DVD. It's nothing to be alarmed about, just feel good knowing that your disc is secure. :D

Ah so it does make two very loud segments of noise correct? its weird, I have to push it in till about half an inch to an inch is exposed of cd before it grabs, i guess im use to trays :)
