The 15" Flat Panel iMac DVD-R/CD-RW was $1799 back when the 17" Flat Panel iMac was released...now it is $1699. The DVD-ROM/CD-RW was $1599, now $1499.

As I say, new prices.

I remember looking at iMacs a few weeks ago for my Mom and I remember the CD-RW one being $1299, the Combo drive being $1499, Superdrive-$1799 (you got me there) and 17"-$1999.

The only one I see changed is the Superdrive one.
:)

OK, so then maybe it is only the Superdrive model, but that is nice to see...afterall, before the 17" came out, Apple had made it $1899! 3 months and $200 off!

Don't know how long they might leave stuff like this up, but the front page of the stare says that the Imac has a "new low price"

Prices were lowered when the new powermacs were introduced in August by $100. The CD/RW and Combo models were at their original prices and the superdrive 15" was now $100 cheaper than its original price.

Funny you are talking about price drop when apple raised prices on all there models here in Holland from the 1st of October!

It was about a 4% increase across the board...

This does not help the "Dutch" people do the "Switch", I don't get it, why are we paing so much more for Mac's in Europe when PC prices are not that different with U.S. ones.

Too bad... wonder why they would raise prices on a 9 mth old model!

Here in Canada we get pretty close to the exchange- except if Our dollar goes up or down a lot between Apple's pricing updates.

yeah, i was gonna say, i know the cheapest one started at 1299, and the most expensive was 1999, and btw, i think that you are a little off base on that superdrive one... that was 1699 before, sorry, but fyi, those "lower prices" are from august

With any luck, 3 months more and we'll see $200 off on the rest of the models too.:D

yeah... why the heck haven't the lowered the powerbook cost!!??
Those things are staying really expensive!

Long overdue. With 15" screens and no-L3 slow single G4s, they ought to be $999, $1149, $1399 and $1649 for the 17" at most.

Let me correct myself... after I wrote that I recived a mail from my wholesaler that the price on the 15" iMac models was indeed dropping here in Eurpoe too.

But with the 4% price increase the privce has stayed the same as last week.

I understand what you feel... the 17 inch iMac here in Portugal costs €2615, probably the same as you pay there, but $616 more than in the US... But the funniest one is the Studio Display 23'' that costs € 5115 when in the US it costs $ 3499... Thats $1615 or €1615 more damn it! You could buy a Power Mac with that money... While we here in Europe buy a 23'' display, you guys in the US buy the Display and even take a PowerMac G4 home! That's a hell of a promotion!

Not to mention shipping costs, which occationally include "lost" packages when going overseas!

Apple's Lack of Promotion

Apple's prices are SO out of whack with everything else out there. $3200 for a powerbook??? Give me a freaking break! I need a new laptop (have a Dell now). I want to buy an powerbook but $3200?!

No special bundles. No buy a laptop get an ipod for 1/2 price. No BMW a day special. Gee $5 off Frogger! Wow! That's impressive. I've been "in the market" for a few months and have seen nothing exciting.
