New Pro vs Old Pro

I've read a couple threads on New MB vs Old MBP and the Old MBP wins.

The old 17" MBP is still more expensive than the two new MBPs, is it worth the more money? I'm currently on an old old old 13" black macbook, so 4" more instead of 2" more might be a little overwhelming haha. But is the old pro better at all? Or just bigger.

Big reason for this question is the reports of the graphics chip on the Late08 pro being bad and causing that "black screen of death" - gonna need it to not do that hehe

i got the old macbook pro and i still would prefer this one over the new one.
Yeah the new one has better graphics card but the design looks more professional.

I've owned the last gen 2.6ghz 17" hi res mbp and the 2.5ghz non unibody 15" mbp and now I own the 15" unibody 2.53ghz mbp.

I have to say hands down in terms of screen, build quality and trackpad (especially build quality and the trackpad is both HUGE improvement) the new unibody mbp wins.

Well, yes, it is an improvement from the previous model in alot of respects(trackpad, bus speed, ddr3, slight increases in cpu clock speed, video card) but I have a late 2007 model and I found it hard to justify an upgrade at this point, b/c I didn't feel that changes were that significant as to dramatically effect my user experience. Now when the quad core chips come to the MBP.......

yes, good point, for you this would be a substantial update and you would notice the difference.

New unibody hands down, look so different side by side, I am selling my 17" late 2008 to get a new 17' unibody when they come out. Why wait till macworld, I can not see the macbooks or mbp changing so soon.

i'd have to agree... with the MB/MBP's being the subject of the most recent refresh it's pretty unlikely they'll be changed so soon, even with the new chips intel just released.
