Could be my eyes playing tricks on me, but does the proximity sensor in the picture of the white iPhone 4 shown at last weeks press conference look different (smaller) compared to that of the demo models at the WWDC?

Wondering if it may have played any small part in the delay of the white model (amongst other possible reasons). It struck me as unusual of Apple when I first saw it, seeing as they are so into aesthetics, to have such a huge panel on the front of the phone.

The pic from the press conference is pretty poor and it is of course a projection, but it looks off centre and not as noticeable or big.

It looks like the simulated glare is covering up part of the sensor. It's probably the same.
 
No it's still there on the slide. There's a reflection and it runs right through the sensor. Steve probably wanted it covered up as much as possible.
