I purchased a Powermac G5 in early 2006 and a 2.16 Ghz Intel Core Duo laptop 17inch later that year, Ive never installed any additional ram on these computers, I do graphics and the systems are started to get a bit sluggish as I like to have a lot of programs open at once, what ram would I need for these macs and how much would you recommend I get, Iam in the UK so if anyone knows any good places to get ram, i dont want to go to apple as the price of there ram is ridiculous.

Depending on what model the G5 is, the earlier ones used DDR(PC3200)while the last revision(Late 2005) used DDR2(PC2-4200). Remember that they also MUST be paired in order for the G5 to even work.

I think the MBP CD used DDR2 667 memory.

Sorry I don't live in the UK so I wouldn't know of any local sources but ebay is always a good place to check first. Also check OWC or Crucial are good sources too.
