Too bad my replacement 4S came preloaded with 5.1 haha

Regardless, I'm so excited about this news. Not sure if the mechanism in which they downgrade but hopefully it'll be a long term solution. Stay tuned for more information as its released!

It talks about restores for A5 devices.

Speculation to a degree (that is will work similar to current Redsn0w), but it is easy.
Verify hash and APTicket files are present using Redsn0w (click one button).
Stitch them to IPSW using Redsn0w (click 2 buttons)
Use iTunes to navigate to and install the IPSW.

Most will not have the APTicket for 5.0 unless they used iFaith to get it (requiring using Sn0wbreeze for building the stitched IPSW)
TinyUmbrella was not updated to save APTicket until after 5.0.1 came out.

You can't restore unless you have the SHSH blobs saved for your own device. Which you won't if you got your 4S on 5.1.

No you can not downgrade to 5.0.1 if you received a brand new 4s that came with 5.1 straight from the factory.

Yeah, a little bit of googling, pre-post, would have helped on my part. Thanks for the info, though.

Hopefully this will lead to a JB down the line. In the interim, I'll save my blobs now...
