iPod touch New refurb iPod Touch 2G — possible wifi problem

Seems to work ok. But even if I'm sitting right next to the router it never the full 3 bars. Anywhere I go in the house it only has the 2 bars. I don't know if this is my problem or if the unit is defective. Any ideas? (It came with version 2.2.1 and I haven't updated the software yet.)

Also, I can't download the iPod Touch manual to my computer from the apple site. It crashes Safari every time. I can't even view the 2G manual without Safari locking up. Weird because I download large pdf files all the time.

If the WiFi is working fine then I wouldn't worry about the signal strength indicator.
