Hello,

Now that apple has released its new Macbook Air. I am wondering when is the new release of MacBook pro coming?

I am ready to buy a MacBook pro, but this current release is coming to the end of its cycle (buyer's guide 194 = 208). I don't want to buy, then a few weeks later apple release a new macbook pro. That would break my heart.

Many thanks for any advice,

I'm putting money on May. If you buy now, you'll be pleased for a good few months. But if you can hold back and save your money, you could end up with a higher end MacBook Pro before the middle of next year. That sounds pretty good to me!

I'm not so sure it will be so late. That would be over a year, and way over the typical period. However, if that's how long it takes to get the Sandy Bridge chips in there, it happens.

I want 1440x900 on the 13", 1680x1050 standard on the 15", and maybe USB 3 the I will buy. Do you hear me steve?

I think May seems a bit far. As the average release cycle will expire in just under 2 weeks.

I am really hopping before the end of this year.

Agreed, read the other threads..but to save you the effort the buyers guide life cycles aren't really much of an indication.

We know that the next big release (that you want) won't be until Sandy Bridge which isn't due out until Q1 2011..so thats basically feb march time.

There won't be anything else before the end of the year. Apple just added the 2.8 GHz i7. Sandy Bridge will probably be released in December or January anyway so updating anything else now would be pointless. We'll probably see Sandy Bridge equipped MBP's sometime between February and June.
