Bought a Retina Macbook Pro 15" 2015 with everything maxed out. Works great, almost touching my Mac Pro 2013 in performance.

However...when hooking it up to a 4K Dell UP3214Q display the whole user interface gets super laggy.

Has anyone experienced lag issues with Macbooks and 4K panels?

Are you using thunderbolt or HDMI? I'm guessing you're using HDMI which is capped by the 30 hertz limit. Thunderbolt allows up to 60 Hertz 5K display on the discrete model (4K 60 hertz on the integrated model) so the lag would be eliminated.

Go into the monitor settings on the monitor and change displayport from 1.0 to 1.2 or what ever the greater one is.
