New rMBP Advice

I have about $300 in Best Buy credit from trading in an old iPhone and the 64gb mid-2010 MBA. Taking into account the college discount and 10% mover's coupon, would it be better to get the 2015 rMBP (8gb RAM, 256 SSD) for base price $1500 or take advantage of the daily sale for the mid-2014 model with the same specs for $1200? Is the upgrade in battery and speed worth the extra $300? I plan on using this laptop for at least 4-5 years in college.
