Just got it. Had it on for about six hours using Safari and watched one streaming movie, email. It's an 8/256 base unit. Very hot bottom, especially upper right but generally all across. Is this normal. TIA

Yes. The aluminum warms up quickly especially when streaming. What was it sitting on?

It was on a flat surface. I know it should probably be raised. Aside from that what options to keep it cooler.
 
It's designed to withstand the heat. If it gets too hot it will simply shutdown to protect itself. Unless it really bothers you it's fine. You can always getting a cooling pad if you want or something to elevate it. Aluminum just gets hot.
 
It was some stupid game that was running in the background, taking 100% of cpu. as soon as i trashed it, cool as my fanless rmb. it was a game loaded on that i didn't even know about and i don't play games.
