I got the netgear WGT624 wireless g router on black friday and have been relatively happy. It works fine with my mac, but i have noticed that i havent been able to connect to AIM using iChate. It can never get connected and says that the connection has been unexpectedly lost. any ideas?

If you are only using Macs, yes. If you feel endangered, you'd be better off using OS X's built in Firewall.
