Does anybody know how to turn this off? I did a search in the forums and couldn't find a solution. When I click on a file in Safari, a new window opens and the file downloads into my downloads folder. Is there a way to download files without opening a new window? I couldn't find any settings for this in Safari preferences. Thanks!

If you're talking about the Safari Downloads window, you can use Glims to automatically close it.

Try holding down 'option' while clicking the link. Should download the attached file without opening a new tab/window.

I'm talking about how when I click on a link to download a file safari opens a new window.

Wow that worked, thank you! Is there a way to accomplish this without having to push the "option" key? Is there a setting in safari that I'm not seeing?
