hey guys just received my new 15'' mbp base from fedex.

opened it up and checked out what kind of screen it has and found that it contains the 9CA4 screen (everyone seems to have the 9CA3).

anyone else have this screen? how does it compare to the 9CA3 screen? mine looks absolutely gorgeous

how do i check who's the maker of the screen?

I have the 9CA4 as well. It's a Samsung, I think. (model LTN154BT08). It looks amazing, and I haven't even calibrated it yet.

EDIT: I used a 9CA3 calibration profile that I found on these forums, and the screen is now drop dead gorgeous.

Looking to buy the 15" MBP this week and wondering whether I need to check at the store that the screen I will get will be the 9CA4 ? Should all the new models have this one?

It's impossible to know what screen your MBP has until you take it home and turn it on to check. I have a feeling they are all similar, but if you get a bad one, you could always exchange it.

I was wondering this as well. I looked under Graphics/Display in System Profiler but didn't see it. Or am I just overlooking it?

Run the following command in the terminal app

ioreg -lw0 | grep IODisplayEDID | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6

I've got new 15" MBP, 2.53GHz model too.
And it says the display is LTN154BT08

Just wondering ...

Could it be that no one with the 9CA4 screen has done a hardware screen calibration? Maybe someone would be kind enough to make one available to the forum?

Like I said, just wondering.

ICC Profile for 9CA3

Can you send me your 9CA3 calibration profile that you found? Please?

Upload it to these forums.. thanks!
