I'm tempted to try this...just thought of it today. Since the iPhone 7/7+ and iPhone X are waterproof up to 3 feet deep, what if you cleaned your phone screen, put it in a filled sink (assuming the sink and water is clean) and applied the screen protector underwater? There isn't any dust flying around underwater like there is in the air, and the lubrication of the water would help you then line it up perfectly when you take it out from underwater.

The only problem then becomes that squeegeeing the water out may mess up the alignment, and the overall time it would take to get the water out from underneath.

The phone shouldn't get damaged as its waterproof (unlike before) and it should come out perfectly. I know it sounds silly, but what do you think?

I did the next best thing, which is to steam the bathroom.

It should get rid of most dust in the air. Last time I did this, got a perfect install.
