Check out my new screensaver, keep in mind it only works in 10.5:

Much better than Concorde, really quite like it.

I think the rain might need to be a bit more obvious and the clouds more diffuse but good job.

I saw this on the Apple downloads page. Very interesting, I like the concept/idea.

As said, a bit more definition on the raid and diffuse the clouds.

Some things to consider:

Option to change frequency of lightning
Sound? (nothing like the sound of rain LOL)

I actually downloaded it and tried it out, like I said, I like the concept.

Thanks, version 2 is on it's way right after I get my next screensaver out there. If only all my finals weren't due this week, I'd be able to get a lot more done a lot faster. Anyone else with critiques, please feel free to add them now.

Cool deal man... take care of school first. The community can wait.

I just released a new version with most all of the features you guys requested, the apple site isn't updated yet, but my blog has the link here:

Rainy Day 2

Added an installer package so that it's easier to add to your other screensavers.

2 new cloud textures, classic version still there as well (but isn't the default).

added Lighning, Rain and Cloudtype controls so that people can customize it however they want.

Now if only my finals were such a breeze...

I like the screen saver. I don't like the installer.
The installer should place the screen saver file in "/Library/Screen Savers/", or "~/Library/Screen Savers/".
Right now it's set to "/System/Library/Screen Savers/".

sweet screen saver, I"m using it right now but there is no sound. What did I do wrong, or did you not include sound in second version?

thanks for the screen saver anyways.

The problem is, many people don't have the "~/Library/Screen Savers" folder, I need to do more tests to see how I can check that it's there/create that folder. For now, it just installs it in the system folder with the other apple screen savers, I hope it isn't too much of a bother for the time being...

Sound is sadly not supported in quartz very much at all. I'll be looking into dropping this composer document into an xcode project and adding sound effects, but for now it's just visual.

Don't worry to much, I managed to move it myself. ;)

I just tried it, and it looks great. However, I seem to have a bug. When I activate it (by using the hot corner so far), half the screen blacks out. The clouds go all the way across the top, the left side shows my desktop, but the right side is black. I'm running a 24" alu iMac with Leopard. Any idea what the problem is?

Thanks for work and generosity for giving it away!

I get this same thing when I hit "Test" If I let it sit it seems to work ok. Still a pretty awsome screensaver.

Big resolutions tend to black out half the screen, but it's probably a problem on apple's side (I'll definitely be asking around to see if other screensavers using the screen capture ability are having similar problems).
