New Mac Mini 2011 will soon be coming- a quick question to shoot.
I'm going to upgrade the HDD to a SSD, do I have to format the SDD first?
I've done this with previous Hard drives using the Installer CD for my MacBook Pro, but I thought Lion may be diffirent, considering my Mac Mini has no optical drive.
Please help, Eddy!

Stick the drive in and boot from a USB stick with Lion on it and format it from there and install. If you don't know how to make the USB stick, search it.

Yes, you do need to format the drive before doing the install but it is supposed to be easy. Internet Recovery would kick in since there is no boot device and download the installer (Disk Utility, etc.) and then you download Lion. I think I saw a couple of posts that this didn't work so the safe way is to format the drive before before putting the drive in your mini.
