New Seagate hd making my fan to run at high speed

I have a PowerBook 800Mhz w/ 768MB ram it is running Tiger (10.4.11)
I replaced the oriiginal hard drive with a Seagate 160GB hard drive. With this installed my fan runs at high speed and almost continually and makes a lot of racket.

What would cause this change and what can I do to reduce the noise?
