Hi! I am about to buy brand new, sealed iphone with box from unknown person. Is it safe to buy, is there possibility that it can be taken by installments or so on and my phone could be locked after few months?

Sure its risky. Get him to show you proof of where he bought it first and demand that receipt from him and anything else he might have. Also why is he not just returning it and getting the money back?

He says, that it is sent from abroad, have box with matching IMEI, but no documents of buying it.

Probably need a few more details. Is this an online or in-person transaction? Also, how good of a deal is he offering? For example, if the offer is an iPhone 6S Plus (128GB) for $650, the phrase "too good to be true" certainly comes to mind. I would proceed with caution.

its in-person transaction, hand to hand. Price is really good, 260€ for 5s 64Gb

Something to consider: T-Mobile is still selling new 16GB iPhone 5Ss in the US for $449 (€592)
[doublepost=1470482704][/doublepost]Average prices look way lower than (€592) on eBay for new 5S models. What's the storage capacity? Is it an unlocked unit?

Is it unlocked?

The current trending price on eBay (in the US store) is $257 or 338.50 CAD -- for a NEW iPhone 5S (16GB). If your offer is for a 16GB version, I would still be cautious, but at least the price does not seem "too good to be true."

Ask the seller to meet you at an Apple store (or authorised retailer) and then ask the personnel to run the serial/IMEI number to make sure it's not stolen, locked or anything else.

FWIW, the 16GB iPhone 5s is on sale here in Finland for 300€, so the price isn't too low.

It's 64Gb 5s Gold. In shops here it costs more than 300€ for 16Gb... Nice idea to go to official Apple store check it. I think I will do this. Thanks!

Anyone can buy a shrink wrap machine. I'd never buy a "sealed" item from someone unknown to me. You may be buying rocks, for all you know, unless you can open the box and verify the contents.

Seller opens it, no problem :)

One more thing, it is unactivated. How to be sure its not unlocked via R-SIM or so on?

a bit problem, because apple store is far away about 200km :/ can I trust checkmend?

Just buy it then. Personally if you have to ask you don't know what you are doing. I buy used all the time but use common sense. Meet in a carrier store and test the phone thoroughly.
