New security update only protects Safari?

What about if using Chrome, FireFox, Dolphin, etc.

Are security for those apps taken care of by this update or are those separate app updates that need to be released?

Pretty sure it fix other browsers which use Webkit

All browsers on iOS have to use the Safari rendering engine so all will be protected.
