Is there plan from Apple to bring a new version of the shuffle
with a screen and more memory?

Thanks

i haven't heard a thing about that, and i doubt it will go over 1gig for a while because the minis are are 4 and only $50 away if you need more space

I agree... but im looking for a player with an integrated usb... so I dont need
to bring my cable or dock station everywhere!

I don't want a screen.

I love the shuffle. I don't want it to include a screen. It is perfect. The only improvements I could see happening would be to make it smaller, or have longer lasting batteries. I love the shuffle! It's awesome.

I don't think we'll see a Shuffle upgrade any time soon. Apple needs to keep the gap between the Shuffles and the mini's price-wise.

I thought this thread title was interesting. I was thinking more on the line of a new Mac shuffle.

What would a Mac shuffle do? Would your applications pop up in a random order?

id like to see a screen on the shuffle. doesnt have to do a lot. i dont really need to search through playlists or anything like that, just a simple scrolling screen of the current song and artist. i have a library of 4000 some odd songs. i can barely identify which band plays every song and i do NOT know the name of every song. so its difficult if i hear a good song and want to put it on a playlist somewhere when i get back, i just dont know what song it is!

hmm thats know as "Windows with an illness" :D hahahaha
LOL, that's Windows on a good day. Windows with an illness constantly coughs up the BSOD.

I agree with a previous poster: I do not want to see an LCD on the iPod shuffle. However, there are times when I wish I knew the title or artist of the track that is playing. A clever solution, I think, would be to have an extra button that, when pressed, uses voice synthesis to speak out the name of the track or artist through the same earphone that's already mounted in your ear.

If you put in an LCD, you'll likely need to put in backlighting, and this not only lowers battery life, it adds unnecessary cost and complexity to a tiny little device. Just add voice synthesis.

Edit: If performing voice synthesis requires too much computational and ROM space, it can be performed in iTunes instead and the resulting audible bitstream could be attached to each song, much like an embedded thumbnail in a large image.

The Shuffle doesn't need a screen, that's the point. I have a mini and as it is I almost never look at the screen. What's the point of showing the song name? It's your music, so if you don't know the name of song, it is easy to look it up.

But I agree that the Shuffle won't be updated for a good long time. Didn't the first Mini not get updated for a year? Well, it's been 5 months or so since the Suffle debuted, so I'm betting it won't get updated for another 7 months at least. It might see an update around Christmas at the earliest. But that's just my opinion.
