I just got the new ATV and redesigned Siri Remote. I think there's something wrong with it. On the Home Screen I overshoot my selection, even to the point where the selection jumps to the end of the screen. It also gets stuck looping over all the icons. And when I press OK to select an icon, it starts to giggle while I don't long press.

I have no idea what's going on. It didn't happen at first, but only started when I selected my HomePod as the default output. I figured it was caused by a delay in the navigation click sounds so I disabled them. It seemed to have fixed it for a while, but now the issue is back.

Am I not understanding the new click wheel, or is mine broken?

You swipe up/down on the touchpad and the selection jumps around randomly?
Yes. It usually jumps in the correct direction but goes too far, even to the end of the screen/list.

And when instead of the touchpad I use the 4 directional buttons on the click wheel either nothing happens (as if the click is not registered) or the selection jumps ahead multiple icons (even when only clicking once), sometimes after a delay of a few seconds.

But the weirdest issue is when clicking OK in the center of the click wheel and the interface immediately entering jiggly mode. I guess that’s definitely not normal?

And in the YT Kids app I needed to enter my birth year but the interface kept looping over the numbers on screen without me doing anything. Like there are ghost swipes or clicks.

try rebooting the remote
hold volume up and back for a few seconds.

try rebooting the appleTV.

if your aTV is very close to other electronics you might try moving it further away, mine sits in the wall bracket that holds the TV, in certain places the remote gets laggy, but slide it a few inches either way and it's fine.

does your TV support HDMI-CEC? make sure nothing is siting on the TVs remote and sending button presses in addition to the siri remote.

I too have had issues with the new Siri remote but only on my 4k Apple TV. It very often overshoots what I am trying to do and sometimes ends up on a different screen altogether. I have tried the different tracking settings and none seem to fix the problem.
I also have one of these Siri remotes on an older HD Apple TV and it works much better. No problems at all.
