yeah, it happens periodically ... for the last week (without any changes having been made) I've been getting crippling slowdowns and beach balls.

I tried restarting, restarting with safe boot. (I know a lot of people hate "clean-my-mac" but I'm trying that too.)

I do restart into a newer, "clean" account and it runs smoothly, without the slowdowns / beach balls.

I try to work in that new account, but that means I have to re-customize everything, re-license some software. (I guess that's not the worst thing in the world!)

The next likely thing for me to try is re-installing the entire OS. I have been doing all the updates to Ventura etc, so it's not an old system.

Grateful for any feedback, as always.

thanks ... I'll run CONSOLE & ACTIVITY MONITOR and hopefully see what I can see!

here's some reports from CONSOLE ... not sure what they mean?

(should I uninstall paragon-software-ntfsd ??? not sure if that's actually doing anything or not...)

a more elaborate question: is the NTFS driver currently necessary, in the current edition of VENTURA, to read and write to WINDOWS-formatted drives? Or Can the current MAC OS VENTURA actually handle that without the addition of a third-party driver?

thanks!
