I am putting a new SSD in my MBP, I am a little confused because it seems like there is more than one way to do the date data/user transfer to the new ssd. Should/can I do migration assist before or after I change out the drive? Thanks in advance.

Here's what I did when I replaced my HDD:

Back up current HDD to Time Machine
Remove old HDD and install new drive
Clean install of the operating system on the new drive
Restore from Time Machine back up

I'm sure there might be an easier/different/faster way, but this is how I did it. The whole process took me a little over an hour to complete, but the more data you have the longer it will take

Will you be using a hard drive caddy in the optical bay?
