I know that this has been covered before in different flavors but it is really frustrating...
I have twice changed my hard-drive and each time I have been unable to boot to my original restore DVD to reinstall the OS. DVD just spins and I see the Apple logo but it never moves past this. The only solution each time was to use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my existing drive to the new one. Although this gets me up and running, I am still worried that there is some other issue. I even bought a retail OS X DVD and this wont boot either. Other bootable DVDs do work so it is not the optical drive.
Is there anything specific to the Mac OS installer that could be causing this issue? I have read that the RAM can sometimes be a problem??
Would the new SSD drive I just got be unrecognizable to the installer causing it to flip out?
