New SSD not being recognized

I bought a 512 GB SSD from a seller on eBay who has around 3500 positive reviews (100% positive). The SSD is a Samsung MZ-JPU512T/0A6 model.

Unfortunately the SSD is not being recognized by my 15" Late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro - not with Diskutility and not with the "diskutil list" command in Terminal. When switching back to my old 256 GB SSD the computer works again as usual.

Any ideas here what else I could try to get this SSD recognized and formatted?

You mean it doesn't appear in disk utility as a drive?

Have another Mac to test the drive?

Sounds like the drive may be defective.
