Hi, I just unpacked my fresh, new and shinny Thunderbolt display but it's not working so far. :(
The display is set up, all cables are connected, charging of my MB works BUT the screen remains pitch black. I am running Mountain Lion 10.8.1, the thunderbolt update is installed and I already tried to "detect screen" (which is stupidly hidden in ML), restarted multiple times but without any success...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Edit: Displays preference pane does not show an arrangement tab.

ok, ok, ok - I admit my own stupidity! I plugged it in the wrong way! Can't believe that I just spent 30 minutes trying to figure out what is going on. To my defense, the cable fits the other way around pretty nicely AND the cable twisting seem more natural... :D

My TBD is (was?) faultless with both my i5 '11 MBA and my new '12 i7 MBA.

The cables are pretty straightforward once they straighten out a bit.

I had that problem before. I rebooted and that solved the immediate problem. After a complete format of my computer it corrected the behavior ever since. Yeah, its a bit extreme, but it worked.
