well... i just ordered a the new powerbook... yay! but now i'm broker than broke.. noo!

My girlfriend is always complaining about how my money management skills, or lack thereof, really stinks.. I wonder how she'll react to this once I tell her we can't be going out too much in the next couple of months... If she gets mad, I'll just give her my told tibook.. heh

btw.. what's a good IRC client? I've tried Ircle and Snak. Are there any others that you guys would recommend? Thanks

Take it from someone that was in a successful, loving three month marriage. Don't worry about what she says! I am not saying be rude, but man, it is your money is it not?

I say, make a stand for all single men in the world that love their Ti's.

hmm... This is a tough one that I seem to come across a lot. Money management - women - systems. Like it or not, they're all connected. Just remember, that Ti can't hug you.

...but then again, can a girlfriend perform 15 gigaflops per second? I didn't think so. :eek:

and if she says anything.... kick her to the curb...

i bet the porn will look good on that 15.2" display :)

women are always going to complain about the money we men spend...

my girlfriend just couldn't understand why I needed to replace my Starmax clone (native 604 processor, max 160 mb ram) when I decided to order a TiBook last January...her take on it was "if u have something that works fine, why do u need something new?"

my advice...if u can avoid the discussions...do it...u will be better off...

the more rational advisor would say to try and help her understand more...but it didn't (and still doesn't) work for me... :rolleyes:

ps: I hope I don't hit a nerve to the females here...he he he ;)
 
Da rules:

1. All relationships before marriage are Short Term Recreational and should be terminated as they become inconvenient. There are plenty of women out there.

2. Never let a woman think she's tamed you until you find yourself proposing.

3. The woman controls the relationship, not you. If she doesn't know this that's HER problem.

4. Basically until one woman has you totally in love and assuredly is in love with you it's all so much hot air and sex. If you're meant to be then you'll be married long before you put a ring on her and THAT will let you know when to get serious.

5. Once there's kids you MUST stick with it. Da kid's mental health depends on it.

6. Most importantly: Have fun and never compromise your principals just to get laid. (see rules 1 and 2) :D ;)

What would you like? I can come up with any number of fun things, make a request, but you'll have to send me something in return. A simple unique item from your home town would do, something that would be 'interesting' sitting on my desk at work. That sound like a good deal?

Well, I told my girlfriend... she laughed!! and then threatened to take drag on to the Oprah Winfrey show! Can you believe that? I mean, this is nothing, I've only got two Macs that I play with.. I'm not even half as bad as some on this forum (no names will be mentioned.. u know who u are!).

Anyway, I was pretty surprised by her reaction.. no lecture on money managing and she even offered to pay when we go out from now on.. ain't that sweet. I'm sure there's a catch.. oh well.
 
You passed the test.

Women like to test our integrity by asking us to compromise our principals. Don't ever do it, they'll lose respect for you instantly.
 
yeah my girlfriend took issue with me spending to much time on the tibook as oppose to spending time with her. we got it all straightend out though. but yeah i hear you all on this issue. its a trip man that this came out on oprah.
 
I've been getting overtime with my TiBook since my woman left town...

the "honeymoon" will end in august though...

so I'll enjoy it while I can...he he he :p

Something about women.

They are usefull and anoying. They can be usefull in bed and anoying most of the time. The kitchen is their natural habitad (20.000 years of evolution leave some trace).

If you have to compare between you computer and a woman... the computer is gonna win eventually. All we need is a computer that cooks, the house can get dirty.

Spend time with your computer and get to your girld something to do. I'm glad that we have the Sony Entertaiment Television because seh likes Friend and That 70's Show a lot.

The secret with weman is to train her for the future. Do not make radical changes, you need to have a vision so you will have your space in the future. Find her something to do a month before for you to do your plans.

That is it.

Ouch, yep, you're not from the States, your culture is showing. You try and sell that load of crap to an American woman, and you'd be lucky to walk away with your skin. Especially a career woman, lawyer, doctor or executive who's had to deal with a man dominated workplace, work twice as hard to get less pay. Its a tough one, and I shouldn't be talking, cause I'm a guy. But if one of the women on the board reads that, you might get more than you asked for.

this has got to be one of the funniest threads I have ever read. straight out of Maxim Magazine.

my girlfriend gets all upset if I spend too much time on the iBook, yet strangely she gets away with having it about as much as I do. in fact, she has a name for it...myBook. nuff said, we put the upset when im on my iBook thing away.

The good IRC client is BitchX...at BitchX.org/com...or you can use fink to download it (fink.sourceforge.net) although you will have to download fink first...BitchX runs in the terminal so you open the terminal.app and type "BitchX" once you've done it and it will load...you may need to do some config stuff but I'm always happy to help..
