New TiBook in July?
Tue, 21 May 2002, 00:01
Jango Fett

Take this for what it's worth which may not be much.

I work in higher education and was talking to our Apple campus rep last Friday. I was saying something about how I was finally going to trade up from my Pismo to a new 800MHz TiBook and was just talking myself into writing the check.

The rep said that, as a friend, I might want to wait until after July since the TiBook form factor was getting a tad old and, after all, Apple tends to make their big form factor changes in July or January.

Just as a friend, you see. Suffice it to say I'm going to wait.

This seems to follow on the rumors from here:

that makes no sense, why would they release a new version of the tibook in july when they just released a new version a few weeks ago?

I strongly doubt that Apple would update recently revised hardware in only 2 months time. If anything, Apple may add an extra option or two and continue selling the current Rev. C models, just as Apple did with the first Combo Drive Powerbook G4s, but that would be it.

I am looking forward to PowerMac updates, if anything.

this won't happen obviously that person hasn't check the apple website in a while the other post on this sites coralates to the possibility of the powerbook being updated once more before it changes to a G5 which is likely unless the G5 come out for the towers this MWNY

i am anxious to know, what we would see in july...

revised tibook (2 months old). done.

emac (2 months old). done.

ibook (2 hours old :)). done.

coming soon:

powermac revision.

imac speedbump.

but that cant be it right? i tell you guys, there is something coming. something big. something new.

I HOPE that apple will suprise us. Anyway, a tibook revision is highly unlikely. PowerMacs and iMacs are next on the slate.

Amazed I am!

Shame on you , maccrain!

You know very well that there is NOT going to be another Ti bump this
New York session!

There just was a very good bump in specs and additions!

I know your dying for the 1 giger and so was I.

But the 800 has quite a few additional attributes that make it the ONE.

Its prime for the QE among others! No need to start hyperventelating over the new Ti's, it just happened, thats just irresponsible posting and wishing if you ask me. Get the new Ti and enjoy that way you can rest your strength for the new PowerMacs, thats what we should be focusing on.

Game Over on the Ti's for now or quite while if you can accept the obvious!
Without drowning in delusion and dreams.

Don't be surprise

Don't be surprise if there're new portables at MWNY.

Too soon for any revision? Well, remember the Rev B PB G4 (550/667 model)? They first came out with DVD or CD-RW options and 2 months later combo drive.

MWNY

The only conceivable powerbook upgrade that will come out at MWNY as I see it would be incorporating a SuperDrive into the PB. Okay, that's wishful thinking, but that would be sweet.

MW will probably be a showcase for Jaguar (since it was only shown to developers), X Server (ibid), Powermac upgrades (1.2 or 1.4 g4), possible updates to Apple software (itunes, imovie, iphoto or ...) and ... any new products under wraps? That would be the big surprise. Remember, new product announcements at NY are become less common.

That's my guess.

Hey, I didn't write the article. I'm not arn so I can't post an article, so I am merely reporting what others have written. I also don't expect another upgrade, but someone else does.

What about a superficial change?

Jobs: 'And now we have a new color for the TiPB......'

it could be in conjunction with the new tower design
