New to Aperture...NEED HELP

Well today I got Aperture 2. It seems like a really simple interface or whatever but there are still things I don't get. Like are there any effects?
Also I need help in particular making a light, like I took a photo and I wanna make it look like light is shining through something. PLEASE HELP

Also if you have any tips with this program please post them. THANK YOU

You just bought a $300 piece of professional photo software and the first thing you want to do is add lens flares? Oh heavens. Well, you can't. You'll have to use Photoshop or something.

I don't know what you mean by "effects". You're thinking of sepia tone and such?

I've never found a useful software tutorial book before this one, but I have to say it taught me pretty much the whole of Aperture without too much fuss - there are loads of examples to work with on the DVD as well....
