New to apple, bought a MBP 15 in. a few newbie questions

1. What is the best way to preserve the battery? Should I try to keep it plugged in every time I use it?

2. Protection. I already have a laptop bag that I use, but it doesn't provide a ton of protection. Is my best bet to get a case like this to put it in and then just use the bag or get something new? http://www.iskin.com/soho/

Also, is there some type of "skin" for macbooks to protect them? Something that you would keep on all the time.

If anybody could provide a link or suggestion for cases, sleeves, skin, laptop bags, I would appreciate it.

2. Countless threads about proper protection of the MBP via cases, bags and such. Look tat Speck cases for example, I have one and then a sleeve and a backpack (17" MBP).
