I want certain apps (like Calendar) to make a sound when a notification is sent to my watch.

But when I want some other apps (like Reddit) to just tap me when there is a notification.

Is this possible and how?

It may depend on the app, but you can customize these from the Watch app on your phone. Choose Notifications then the app you wish to adjust, then choose Custom. From there you can often choose Sound on/off and Haptic on/off.

No none of the 3rd part apps have such things as custom. It has a on and off toggle that says “mirror” which I have no idea what that means.

Yes. If you turn audio notifications off on the phone, they should turn off on the watch as well. Not sure if it allows for vibrate only though

so I still cant figure this out. I've tested this extensively on my end using the Reddit app

Either

(A) I turn off iPhone mirroring
In which case, the watch does nothing. No sound, no vibration.

(B) I turn on iPhone mirroring
(B1) and the I leave the sound setting in the iOS notification setting to ON
In which case, the watch makes a sound and a vibration
(B2) and the I turn the sound setting in the iOS notification setting to OFF
In which case, the watch makes no sound and no vibration
In no scenario does it let me have it the way I want it. i.e. when reddit sends me notification, the watch to make no sound and vibrate.

The app may not give you the ability (in the watch settings) to have a custom sound separate from iPhone mirroring.
I dont need a custom sound, I just need it to shut up with no sound. Apparently No 3rd party app is allowed to have no sound.
