Before I part with my healthy lump of c.£550 cash to buy my first AW - any suggestions on here pls? My Omega Seamaster is not best pleased!

John Lewis offer 0% finance on the S5, but not the S6 - I might wait until they do as its an affordable option.

I own an 256GB iphone X, and run 3-4 times weekly (45mins/run). I love running to music and currently am using my trusty old 4th gen 2010 ishuffle 😆 (still working yes)!

My thinking is getting the Nike S6, 44mm cellular model. Maybe I might treat myself to another extra wrist band (the Nike one with circular holes in) from Amazon for about 80% cheaper!

Also I am aware I will need to buy bluetooth Airpods = que the Airpods Pro. Is it worth waiting for the second gen Airpods Pro to be released?

Any thoughts/advice would be most welcome. Thank you.

Since you asked... :p

#1 - Just my opinion / practice - if I cannot purchase a luxury item outright, then I needn't be buying it. So 0% financing shouldn't be a deciding factor. That said, Apple in the US does offer 0% finance on the Series6 if you use the Apple Card credit card to purchase. I don't know if the same is true where you are.

#2 - Airpods are nice but for outdoor running I'd recommend the Aftershokz headphones since they leave your ears exposed and able to hear ambient noises such as traffic. I have the Aeropex model and they work very well with my Apple Watch. I don't know if there is a newer/better model.

#3 - there are MANY counterfeit bands on the market. Many/most are serviceable, but I've also found there is indeed a difference in quality and durability. Tread cautiously with your purchases.

#4 - outdoor running where you are may be a bit different from outdoor running here in Georgia (US), but I prefer the sport loop (fabric) to the sport bands - even the nike+ version with the holes. Does better at wicking sweat, and seems to dry just as quick.

#5 - if considering an aluminum model and not set on one of the case colors unavailable as a Nike+ model, then the Nike+ models are a great choice. They're the same as the other aluminum model, plus you get additional watch faces and the exclusive Nike+ bands.

With every watch OS the watch feels that much more useful.....now we are on 7 it’s almost like having your phone on your wrist.

AirPods Pro has Transparency mode that let you hear ambient noise as well, if you so choose.

Good to know.

For me though they still wouldn't work. I generally don't find eartips comfortable -- plus I have a bad habit of destroying headphones from sweat thanks to summer lunchtime runs here in Georgia (US). I'll take the IP67 Aeropex over the IPX4 Airpods.

Do you rate AW better than Garmin out of interest? Especially if you have an iPhone. Battery on Garmin is so much better.

I’d just get what you can get now and be happy...Series 6 and AirPods Pro.
Thats where I’m at and couldn’t be happier.
Thanks. So please tell me about your experience with the s6 watch and APP. It’s a lot of money to spend for me.

Go ahead and buy. No need to wait for a possible refresh at some unknown time with the AirPods Pro.
As far I’m aware there is no date as to when Apple will supersede the APP? I expect sometime in 2021 if not before when new iPhone launches later this year.

For my runs (in London) traffic / siren noise is loud and constant. I don’t really want transparency mode. More, just zone into my music with your eyes and wits about you. I like the fact you can block out the outside noise

I have found the AirPods 2 to be far more enjoyable with exercise. In-Ear buds don't work all that well for me because I sweat a lot. But being able to run with AirPods and my Apple Watch has been extremely liberating. I started doing this 3 years ago with my Apple Watch 3. I now have an LTE watch (with AirPods 2) - wouldn't do it any other way. Knowing I can call 911, family if there is an emergency (or they me if they need me) has been very liberating.

I use a Nike band for exercise and a Sports Loop for daily wear (I type a lot). I've used these bands for almost 3 years now and they're going strong with my AW6.

I wouldn't wait on AirPods - I've found family / friends will readily take them off my hands when I want to upgrade. :p

Please can you explain a little more..
You’re already running 3-4 times a week so clearly you value your health. Most of Apple Watch functions designed to encourage you to have a better health so it will fit you perfectly. It will track all your activities so you will have those data at hand every time you want. It will reward you with awards, and challenge you and let you challenge your friends.
And not only activities but all the health, your heart, your VO2 max, your resting heart rate etc.
And it helps you not just for working outs, but for calmness like Breathe, and your wellness likes sleep tracking. And you might go further by tracking your food consumption (calories intake) and water consumption if you so choose.
This is just small examples. In no time you won’t want to take it off.

I’ve been very happy so far with the move from AW4 to AW6 and find it incredibly useful.
I use the notifications sparingly and don’t have all my social media alerts coming through so don’t get distracted.
never have my iPhone on anything other than silent. Don’t need to. Watch gives me all the notifications discretely.
APP - use them all the time.
magazine, iPhone and iPad are always on silent.
I use the APP for everything from music playback to video calls for work and phone calls etc.
they’re not 100% flawless but they’re pretty close.
Great when commuting too (in different times).
