I just jailbroke my iPhone and would love to here which hacks you recommend.

I am new to this whole iPhone hacking scene.

i would recommend searching. but get sbsettings. bitesms if you text a lot. five icon dock. plenty more out there.
 
Agree completely with SBSettings, BiteSMS, and Five Icon Dock

Some other things I find nice are MyWi and some type of 3G unrestrictor
