New to iphone with a used iphone 2G

I am about to buy a used iphone 2G. I would like to use it on a pay as you go basis with ATT which is my current phone plan. Is there anything special or out of the ordinary I should do to make this possible?

You'll just need to jailbreak it so it can be unlocked.
