Hi guys,

A good friend of mine recently gave me his old iPhone 3Gs. I've never used a smart phone before. This is going to be my first time. Currently, I pay about $35 a month on an ATT plan without data plan.

So what's the best way to go about this if I'm moving onto an iPhone?

My friend upgraded it to iOS 5.1 and set it up for me. The phone is still locked I think. Now I need to find a carrier/plan to use it. I want to keep my old phone number from my Nokia 5300 express music. I believe all my contact numbers are saved on the SIM card. Can I use the same SIM card in 3Gs?

Like I said I'm totally new to the iPhone. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you use the iPhone on AT&T, they'll require you to get a data plan from them.

You can import your contacts from your current sim by going to (on the iPhone), settings > mail, contact, calendars, > import sim contacts.

Hi,

Good advise to get a decent data plan with a minimum of 1gb as the iPhone screams out to be used on the net.

And Welcome to the Dark Side.
