new to mac, need help with iChat

Hi I just got my macbook pro 13 inch yesterday. I'm trying to use iChat to talk to my brother on his macbook pro. I have it set up with my google account. However, my brother appears offline and he said I am appearing offline also. I cannot find the "security settings" option under: iChat ->preferences->accounts...i only see account information and server settings. My brother, on the other hand, can see this information. I have my server settings set up correctly, as the server is "talk.google.com" and the port is 5223. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Thanks.

You need to go into your Google account and add him as a contact and chat buddy that way. Google chat doesn't let you really add contacts thought Jabber, which is dumb.
