For calls, setup call forwarding (Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding).

For WhatsApp, there's no way.

Closing the lid will stop whatever you're doing. Use InsomniaX and disable lid and idle sleep to prevent this from happening.

Finder is basically File Explorer, but better and nicer.

Install Windows using Boot Camp, an empty USB stick, Boot Camp Assistant and a Windows ISO file.

You can reply to whatsapp messages with whatsapp Web (only for chrome) or with the pushbullet extension for safari, chrome or Firefox. You'll need to install the pushbullet app in your phone as well.

There is no mac WhatsApp application, you'll need to use Google Chrome. Finder can do basically everything Windows Explorer can do, and closing the lid stops some tasks but not others (eg. downloads and updates)

And surprisingly, I installed Windows 8.1 and it runs faster than OSX :)

If "Finder" was "nicer and better" than File Explorer in Windows, I would be tempted to kiss Windows and Parallels goodbye. Finder is a mess. Heck I would settle for a full CUT and paste solution. (finder only allows COPY and paste adding a frustrating (needless) step.

Ever heard of keyboard shortcuts?

CMD-X and CMD-V will cut and paste quite nicely.
